Health and Wellness
Medical coverage: Our two medical plan options cover the same medical services but differ by the copays or coinsurance, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums.

  • Copay Plan: This option features fixed copays for office visits and lower deductibles. You pay the lowest out-of-pocket costs when you use network providers. Out-of-network care is not covered, except in medical emergencies.

  • High Deductible HSA Plan: Before meeting the annual deductible, you pay the cost of your care at negotiated network rates. After you meet the annual deductible, you pay a percentage of the cost. This option covers out-of-network care, but you pay less when you use network providers.

Health savings account (HSA): If you participate in the High Deductible HSA Plan, Children's Health contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) that you can use to pay out-of-pocket medical, dental and vision expenses tax-free or save and invest to pay for medical care in the future. You can also choose to contribute through convenient payroll deductions.

Health care flexible spending account (FSA): Under both medical plan options, you can contribute to an FSA through payroll deductions and use the account to be reimbursed for qualified medical, dental and vision expenses tax-free.

Dental and vision coverage: We offer a choice of the Cigna Dental HMO or the Cigna Dental PPO, as well as Superior Vision, which covers annual eye exams and pays part of the cost for corrective lenses and other optical care and services.

Wellness program:  By completing certain activities, you can reduce the cost of the next year's medical coverage by $25 per pay period – $650 for the year. In addition, the program offers year-round activities to help you maintain or improve your health.

Financial Security
Employee savings plan:  Team members can save money through convenient payroll deductions on a pre-tax or after-tax basis, up to IRS maximums and receive a dollar-for-dollar match starting at up to 4% of pay. The match increases based on years of service, up to 8% after 10 years of service. The plan is administered by Fidelity and offers a variety of investment options, portfolio guidance and counselors who offer face-to-face assistance with investment and retirement planning.

Income protection: Children's Health pays the full cost of basic life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage, as well as short- and long-term disability insurance. In addition, you can elect to purchase supplemental employee life and AD&D coverage and optional life insurance coverage for your spouse and children.

On-the-job injury program:  This program gives you financial protection if you are injured at work. It replaces 100% of base pay beginning the first day missed due to a work-related injury and pays the full cost of covered medical care for work-related injuries. Children's Health pays the full cost of this program.

Emergency financial assistance: Team members who experience a catastrophic illness or loss of property may qualify for up to $3,000 in emergency financial assistance, up to 80 hours of additional paid time off, or both for qualified events. Our Employee Care Fund program is funded through the generosity of our team members.

Other programs:  Additional benefits include employee discount programs, subsidized transit passes, credit union membership, and will and funeral planning.
Work-Life Balance
Paid time off (PTO): To allow the flexibility to use paid time in the way that best meets your needs, our PTO program provides hours that can be used for illness, vacation, holidays, and personal time. You earn PTO based on years of service. As a new full-time team member, you will have 24 hours of PTO available on your first day of work and you begin accruing additional PTO after three pay periods.

Employee Appreciation
At Children's Health, we know how important it is that our team members know they are appreciated. To demonstrate appreciation for their efforts in helping us deliver on our mission of making life better for children, we have a team member appreciation program called Recognizing Employee Dedication – or RED.

Our year-round calendar of events includes special meals and treats for holidays, Food Truck Fridays, and summer meals. With many team members working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have found new ways to show appreciation, such as virtual concerts and family events. We honor team members celebrating milestone anniversaries with an annual event called Paint the Town RED.

In 2021 we launched an online platform that allows team members across the system can recognize the contributions of their coworkers or wish them happy birthday or anniversary
