Position Summary

The Senior Business Intelligence/ETL Developer is responsible for assisting with data management and processing tasks that will drive the Childrens Health Plan EDI and Trading Partner strategy in support of the goals of Health Plan Data Strategies; including overall responsibility for the designing, building, and testing of health plan solutions into working code that handles custom data formats, workflows and rules as it relates to key Health Plan technology systems. Specifically, the position works closely with Children’s Health Plan directors, managers, application users, and other IS team as it relates to data integration, process documentation, business requirements analysis, development of ad hoc and standard reports, and testing of electronic transactions..EDI processes, reports, dashboards, analysis of organizational reporting needs, and mentoring of junior developers/analysts.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, test, debug, configure, and document EDI applications and dimensional data models
  • Assist in the design of relational and dimensional schemas to optimally capture data to support user analysis and reporting needs.
  • Ensure timely completion and high quality production of deliverables assigned to the team including, but not limited to, the creation of appropriate technical documentation such as designs, process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, decision trees, data dictionaries andprovide end-user training as necessary
  • Develop objects, functions, and structures for data storage, retrieval and reporting.
  • Analyze requirements, perform impact analysis, design modules, build and unit test the code
  • Work closely with various teams including business analysts and end-users to understand requirements; Gather, define, and organize business and functional requirements including acceptance criteria for use by developers to implement a capability
  • Serve as a liaison to database administrators, developers, and vendors (if needed) to assist in resolving problems with systems.
  • Recommend schedules and perform solution updates and upgrades.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, including ability to work effectively with business users and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, creating and interpreting data, validating data and ensuring quality controls are in place.

5+ years of working experience in relational or multidimensional database development required

5+ years in the use of MS SQL Server/Oracle with hands-on experience in writing complex database queries, procedures, functions, views, etc. required

5+ years developing healthcare solutions using at least one of the following reporting platforms: SSRS, SSAS, SAP Webi, Tableau, Cognos, or equivalent required

5+ years developing with at least one of the following .NET, Java, JSON, preferred

2+ years in a technical leadership role required

2+ years working with Health Care claims data and knowledge of EDI Healthcare Transactions (820, 270, 271, 834, 837, 270, 271 etc...) preferred


Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience preferred
