Responsible for contributing to the safety and security of Children's Medical Center employees, patients, families, and visitors by ensuring that Security Officers and Security Dispatchers are properly trained. Responsible for researching, developing, recommending and facilitating initial and ongoing in-service professional development for Officers and Dispatchers. Responsible for facilitating Security Tactics training for Security Officers. Responsible for facilitating Investigative functions and Analysis of Security Incidents and Security Concerns.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB PROFILE:
Requires in-depth professional knowledge and practical/applied expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines within the broader professional field
Facilitate professional development of Security Officers with regard to Security Tactics. This includes but is not limited to research, development, recommendation and delivery of Crisis Intervention Tactics, Officer Survival Tactics and Tactical Handcuffing.
Monitor changes in the Security profession and revise training and professional development programs and initiatives to incorporate changes as needed. This includes identifying current and future departmental needs.
Performs Investigative functions and Analysis specific to Security Incidents and Security Concerns as needed.
Research, Recommend and Implement Security Initiatives as needed.
Develop and facilitate delivery of initial new hire training and ongoing in-service professional development for Security Officers and Security Dispatchers. This includes reviewing and updated related Job Descriptions and Competencies as needed.
Maintain knowledge, proficiency and certifications specific to Crisis Intervention Tactics, Officer Survival Tactics and Tactical Handcuffing; and maintain knowledge and proficiency specific to Investigative functions and Analysis.
Performs special assignments or tasks assigned or approved by the Director of Security.
Participates in the Security department's hiring and interviewing process.
Minimum of 7-10 years of Law Enforcement, Military or Security related experience. Must include: 1) recognized training and certification in Crisis Intervention and Officer Survival Tactics 2) recognized training and experience in Investigative functions, required.
Minimum of 10 or more years of Law Enforcement, Military or Security related experience. Must include: 1) recognized training and certification in Crisis Intervention and Officer Survival Tactics 2) recognized training and Experience in Investigative functions, preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school, required.
Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:
Must currently hold or possess the ability to obtain recognized Training and Instructor Certification in Crisis Intervention and Officer Survival Tactics. [EX. CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor Certification; GST Gracie Officer Survival Tactics Instructor Certification; PATH Practical And Tactical Handcuff Instructor Certification], required.
Must currently hold or possess the ability to obtain [within 14 days] a Level II Non-Commission Security Officer License from the Texas Department of Public Safety - Private Security Bureau, required.
Recognized Training and related Experience in Facilitating Investigative Functions and Analysis, required.
Law Enforcement Academy Graduate and hold a Texas Peace Officers License, preferred.
