Position Summary

This position resides within the Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and primarily supports the ACE (After the Cancer Experience) and Stem Cell Transplant Program. This position requires general experience, skill and knowledge within the department and of organization policies and practices.

This job is responsible for performing advanced clerical duties including triage of family calls, database work from the medical record, and identifying and coordinating the needs of the ACE Program and Stem Cell Transplant providers in support of patient care. This individual must possess the ability to work on multiple projects and to establish appropriate priorities. This individual must also recognize what needs to be done and initiate activities without direction. They must possess the ability to recognize and safeguard confidential patient information and have excellent communication skills both with the team and patients and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Oncologists, Advanced Practice Provider, Registered Nurses and Social Workers
  • Prepare for conferences/team meetings and set up schedules as needed
  • Maintain a customer service driven environment
  • Coordinate the needs of the providers, including computer programs, processing telephone calls, printing, filing, mailing, and distribution of office supplies;
  • Prepare correspondence and reports that require some understanding of technical and professional matters
  • Respond to routine and non-routine inquiries of Providers and outside clients using standardized policies and procedures
  • Align daily work with individual, departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Actively looks for ways to improve standard work processes and shares insights to that end with team members, and group leaders with the same level of importance as performing quality technical work.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation through helpful, courteous, and positive interactions with colleagues
  • Promote a trusting and secure work environment through supportive, dependable interactions
  • Perform other duties and special projects as requested.
