POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide music therapy to patients for emotional concerns. Responsible for providing music therapy in fulfillment of therapeutic objectives to patients and families at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Ensure children receive the best music therapy possible according to CMC's policy. This position will require you to be available for both locations and the work schdule could vary depending on the needs. This is a PRN position.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for providing music therapy interventions to address the following needs of the patient and /or patient family: Diagnosis of terminal illness, Psychosocial issues, Grief and Bereavement issues, Group Activity, Developmental concerns, Acute crisis, Withdrawal and/or depression and Psychiatric disorders.

Create and manage patient treatment plans, maintain patient documentation, develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of the health care team.

Educate staff across numerous disciplines regarding psychosocial and emotional concerns and the benefits of music therapy.

PATIENT CONTACT:

Direct - Indicates that the person in the position directly provides care, treatment or services to the patient. Ex: Nurses, Physical/Occupational Therapists, RCPs.

EXPERIENCE:

Six months to one year of related experience required

Two to three years of job related experience preferred

EDUCATION:

Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience preferred

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

Music Therapist Board Certification required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light - Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly and may require walking or standing to a significant degree.
