Position Summary:

This job is primarily responsible for the oversight of the laboratory in the clinic . The LVN is also responsible for the preparation and administration of oral and injectable medications, as ordered by the provider. The LVN also assists in other patient care duities.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all laboratory, radiology, and OSHA logs. Ensures the accuracy of such logs. Reports status of outliers immediately. Presents logs to Lab Director on a monthly basis.
  • Prepares month-end laboratory reports
  • Ensures QC and maintenance longs toasks are performed and logged correctly.
  • Prepares and administers vaccines, oral and injectible medications, as is ordered by the provider
  • Monitors expiration dates of all medicines and supplies in the lab, including the Emergency Kit and AED. Logs and discards medications/vaccinations in accordance with policies
  • Vaccine reconciliation
  • Assists with inventory maintenance
  • Works closely with Lead Medical Assistant, Lab Manager, and Lab Director/Lead Physician to prepare the laboratory for regulatory audits/inspections
  • Ensures laboratory controls performed daily with appropriate accuracy, should there be errors, this positions will perform necessary next steps.
  • Prepares patient for examination and treatment
  • Gathers patient data regarding condition
  • Takes vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, respiration rate, height and weight and documents in the patient medical record
  • Performs laboratory functions, includes obtaining blood specimens from patients through venipuncture an capillary collection; obtains urine specimns from patients
  • Orders laboratory analysis and arranges for transport of specimen. Follow up with lab analysis and documents all results
  • Douments all interactions with patients/families which takes place via telephone or face-to-face
  • Prepares examination rooms by stocking rooms with the appropriate medical supplies
  • Disposes of medical waste
  • Cleans and maintains examination rooms between patients
  • Cleans and maintains laoratory and examination room equipment
  • May assist with front office duties, such as scheduling appointments, patient reminder calls, answering teelphones and arranging transportation for aptients
  • Mentors and role models quality customer service behaviors
  • Performs and the ability to teach routine laboratory tests as appropriate

Required Experience and Education:

  • Graduation from nursing program
  • Minimum of 2 years expeirence as a pediatric nurse
  • Current LVN license
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience
  • EMR experience (Epic preferred)
