The Children’s Health communications team is looking for a full-time director of communications.

This position is responsible for enhancing and achieving business objectives through communications at Children's Health with employees, patient families and consumers. This role develops and drives initiatives to meet the organization's goals and align with strategic priorities. The primary audiences for engagement are leadership, employees and community stakeholders of the health system. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: corporate communications, internal and employee communications, executive positioning and communications, publications, reputation management and community/patient education and communications outreach.

The role is responsible for the following:

  • Leads the team vision for corporate and internal communications, and manages the work of the team to meet business objectives.
  • Manages teams that lead internal communications, such as patient quality and safety as well as accreditation, online reputation, patient communications, including patient education communications, and publications like the Beyond ABC community needs assessment, economic impact report and other corporate communications publications.
  • Aligns the work of the communications team to the priorities of the organization.
  • Attains proactive, effective day-to-day communications, including continuous enhancement of channels and processes.
  • Effectively communicates system mission/vision, key messages and positioning to achieve businesses objectives.
  • Possesses superior project management skills and written communication ability for traditional and emerging communications channels. Must possess ability to translate/communicate complex medical and corporate jargon into easily understandable terms for all employees.
  • Serves as communication consultant to audiences on strategic, unique, complex initiatives and leadership communications.
  • Leads digital reputation by managing proactive and reactive reviews program.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of changing digital environment as well as developing strong relationships with leadership across the system.
  • Presents good judgment about appropriate communications approach and understanding complicated requirements to develop appropriate content.
  • Builds strong, effective relationships with team, peers, vendors, and internal partners in a manner that represents Children's Health positively and fosters collaboration in order to gain the necessary depth required to deliver effective communications.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience.
