Position Summary

This position is responsible for creating a positive first impression of Children's through professionalism and service excellence. The Concierge will strive to provide a warm welcome, anticipating needs and provide a fond farewell to create a unique memory for our families. The concierge will be providing a supportive and comfortable environment for families; presents a positive public image via coordination of hospital systems and patient information to families; and maintaining the environment of lounge/waiting areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm welcome to patients, families, vendors and staff upon arrival and departure to the hospital. Displays and role models proper telephone etiquette. Promote patient family centered care by serving as a patient/family liaison to identify resources for ensuring a positive experience while at Children's. Assists with problem resolution occurring during the entry or exit process, i.e., social work, security, etc.; coordinate information collection with various hospital departments and meeting room schedules to ensure accurate referral of incoming traffic to appropriate location; provide support to management and department to meet requirements for seamless service; and coordinate concierge information and resources for families, providing accurate transmittal of information from hospital staff to families, concerning their child; provide infectious control screening and badging. Also assists with managing wagons and wheelchairs allocated to the team.
  • Ensure maintenance of clean, neat, comfortable environment while ensuring referrals for families requiring emotional and/or financial support that is appropriate during time of stress; communicate and educate families of policies and procedures in a supportive and positive manner that support the mission, philosophy and policies of Children's Medical Center of Dallas and integrate these values into behavior. Ensure infection prevention from proper use of hand hygiene upon entering the facility.
  • Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job



  • High school diploma required; additional training beyond high school preferred


  • Minimum 2-3 years of job related experience preferred
  • Two to three years customer relations background preferred

  • Must possess the ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone and in person; and the demonstrated use of good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess the ability to interact with peers, executives, patient families and other vendors in a manner that represents Children’s positively
  • Must possess the ability to maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance
  • Must possess the ability to learn and apply new information, knowledge and experiences in a timely manner
  • Must possess the ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Bilingual skills, preferably English/Spanish, preferred
  • Must possess ability to analyze problems and provide solutions
  • Must possess the ability and knowledge to operate a personal computer
  • Must possess the ability to recognize and safeguard confidential information

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary - Exerting up to 10lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
