Clinical Therapist

Position Summary

This position specializes in evaluating and providing evidence-based treatment to children and families in crisis and helping them adjust to acute and/or ongoing medical and/or psychiatric stressors. The position can provide support for inpatient and outpatient medical and psychiatric services or can provide psychiatric assessment to patients in the emergency room. These services may include any of the following: diagnostic evaluations; consultations on the behavioral management of medically and psychiatrically ill children; individual, play, and family therapy; case management and disposition planning as appropriate. This position also provides education and practical coping strategies for patients and families.

Job Specific Responsibilities

Provide evaluation and treatment services to patients and families with complex psychosocial needs; provide crisis intervention and emergency services as needed.

Case management and disposition arrangements.

Contribute to program development

Maintain fiscal accountability and apply problem solving skills that demonstrate responsibility for generating allocated billable and/or patient contact hours.

Contribute to the teaching mission of the hospital by working with trainees as co-therapists, and participating in didactics on topics of own expertise.

Work with the team or directly determines whether the patient's benefits provide coverage for services and communicates this information back to the families and the team.

Required: Minimum 1 - 2 years of job related experience

Preferred: Minimum 3 - 5 years of job related experience

Education

Required: Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required: License at a Master's level (LPC, LMFT, LCSW or equivalent)

Required: Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must be completed within 60 days of hire and renewed annually

Required: Basic Life Support - Health care provider course (BLS) certification must be completed within 60 days of hire and renewed every 2 years

Physical Demands

Sedentary - Exerting up to 10lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
