Position Summary

This position provides therapeutic services within two programs in Psychiatry.

  1. Adult Transition Program: Outpatient Psychiatry

This position specializes in providing skill based treatment to older adolescents/emerging adults transitioning into adult based care. The position includes development and facilitation of an adult transition program within Children’s Health Outpatient Psychiatry. The program will provide a group therapy environment for adolescents to learn skills needed for a successful adulthood while maintaining mental health treatment in adult psychiatric care. The position will provide education and support to adolescents and their parents by providing group therapy, parent education, care coordination, and follow up contact.

  1. Rapid Access Clinic: Emergency Department Liaison

This position is a liaison that specializes in providing suicide prevention strategies beginning in the Emergency Room in order to provide earlier intervention to high risk adolescents. This position will provide a “bridge” between the Suicide Prevention and Resilience Program and the Emergency Department.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide evaluation and treatment services to patients and families with complex psychosocial needs; provide crisis intervention and emergency services as needed.
  • Case management and disposition arrangements.
  • Contribute to program development.
  • Maintain fiscal accountability and apply problem solving skills that demonstrate responsibility for generating allocated billable and/or patient contact hours.
  • Contribute to the teaching mission of the hospital by working with trainees as co-therapists, and participating in didactics on topics of own expertise.
  • Work with the team or directly determines whether the patient's benefits provide coverage for services and communicates this information back to the families and the team.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience - required

Licenses and Certifications

  • License at Master's level (i.e., LPC, LMFT, LPT, LCSW or equivalent) – required
  • Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must be completed within 60 days of hire and renewed annually.
  • Basic Life Support – Health care provider course (BLS) certification must be completed within 60 days of hire and renewed every 2 years.

Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years of job related experience – required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of job related experience - preferred
