Position Summary:

Responsible for cooking/preparing the food and delivers meals to the children in their rooms. Maintains a healtly and sanitary work environment while serving and cleaning up after meals.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

  • Consistently follows established policies and procedures established by the Child Care and Learning Center, Children's Health, the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, the Dallas County Department of Health and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and cook food for children in the child care center.
  • Ensure an adequate stock of food supplies by placing weekly orders. Control food waste through established procedures.
  • Provide meals and snacks to children in a cost efficient and timely manner. Provide enough food in each classroom set-up for the number of children.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of food preparation and service equipment through daily inventory. Inspect cooking equipment and utensils and maintain cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils including toaster, oven, microwave and knives.
  • Observe and maintain required sanitary levels throughout the food preparation process; ensure that foods meet standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.
  • Daily cleans and sanitizes dishes, equipment, fixtures, floors and walls in the kitchen area and maintains a safe and sanitary work environment utilizing approved safety and infection control practices. Maintains knowledge of safety and infection control guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintains an appropriate working relationship with coworkers and children.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and participates in PI efforts as needed.
  • Spends 10 hours a week in childcare classrooms

Patient Contact:

Direct - directly provides services to the patient. Spends a minimum of 10 hours/week in the childcare classrooms.


Six months to one year related experience.


High school diploma or equivalent – preferred
