POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide pastoral care and counseling services associated with total patient care in assigned care areas of Hospital; supervise chaplain residents and interns assigned to designated area(s) and participate in a variety of departmental programs.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit patients upon admission and during their hospital stay as requested; act as liaison between family members and hospital staff during periods of crisis; perform religious sacraments and rituals rites at request of church, family or patient.

  • Provide counseling and spiritual guidance to hospital personnel and others in assigned area(s) of Hospital to assist in their personal and religious adjustment.

  • Participate in regular and special religious services as required; provide instruction in pastoral care techniques to interested groups and organizations; maintain liaison between local clergy and hospital staff; represent the hospital in community and professional association group meetings; supervise chaplain residents and interns for assigned areas.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of clinical pastoral education required.

EDUCATION:

Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Care/Theology from an accredited theological seminary and completion of four units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education), required.
