POSITION SUMMARY:

This position performs skilled work on preventive maintenance, repair, safety testing and recording functional test data for all DME equipment in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies and Children's Medical Center of Dallas guidelines and practices. The Biomed/DME Technician will be responsible for assembly, inspection, and installation of all new home medical equipment. The position will be responsible for maintaining documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed, order repair parts as needed and track receipt of all purchased items. In addition to these duties, the position will also be responsible for assisting with inventorying and delivery processes to the patient which includes driving to patient homes as needed for purpose of delivering and setting up equipment.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position performs skilled work on preventive maintenance, repair, safety testing and recording functional test data for all DME equipment in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies and Children's Medical Center guidelines and practices. The Biomed/DME Technician will be responsible for assembly, inspection, and installation of all new home medical equipment. The position will be responsible for maintaining documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed, order repair parts as needed and track receipt of all purchased items. Warehouse Coordination: Ensures that all equipment/supplies are received, labeled, correctly entered into the computer, clean and appropriately tagged. Maintains the warehouse in an orderly fashion with rental and loaner equipment segregated from new equipment. Ensures dirty and clean equipment areas are clearly marked and kept separate. Ensures equipment is repaired and redistributed per DME guidelines.

Inventory Coordination: Monitors inventory of parts and rental equipment - works with purchasing agent and orders equipment/parts as necessary. Ensures that all serialized inventory is traceable and trackable. Ensures that equipment checklists and documentation are up to date and available for each piece of equipment delivered.

Receiving & Shipping: Receiving of all equipment and stock followed by all necessary documentation and handling involved in the receiving process as stipulated in the. Receives delivery tickets from customer service, creates timely delivery schedules, and prepares shipments for delivery.

Staff Guidance: Assists DME Manager in hiring warehouse staff. Completes training with staff, participates/facilitates in-services as appropriate for warehouse processes and equipment operations.

Equipment Delivery and Education: Delivery equipment per provider orders and educate patient/caregiver on how to use the equipment.

PATIENT CONTACT:

Direct - Indicates that the person in the position directly provides care, treatment or services to the patient. Ex: Nurses, Physical/Occupational Therapists, RCPs.

EXPERIENCE:

Two Years previous experience as a Biomedical technician Required

One Years warehouse experience Preferred

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school Required

Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience Required

LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:

CBET or additional technical certification Preferred

Valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance Required
